Geneva Steel Slag Heap

Geneva Steel operated on the shores of Utah Lake from 1944 until 2001. Its giant slag heaps, mostly clean now, are shrinking to pave Utah’s highways. The city of Vineyard is literally growing out of slag. And, in spite of environmental progress, the post-industrial scars still have an other worldly feel from the air.
